The 'Self-Aid' direct-mail package advises people on what the best action is to
take for a particular illness or symptom by asking a series of simple "yes" or "no"
answer questions – determining whether or not a hospital visit is necessary.
In turn, this makes better use of equipment and facilities in hospitals for those
patients with more serious problems who have been unable to see a GP.
